~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's almost Opening
Weekend! You look great, you sound great and it's going to be a great
and exciting weekend!
Some Quick Reminders:
Please...
Remember your character and your accent
Turn off your cel phone
Shoes first then corset
Don't share drinking vessels, cigarettes, food utensils
Do not bring in your own alcohol
Wash your hands and gloves
Eat food, drink water
Use the privies rather than the inside bathrooms during fair hours
(whenever possible)
Don't leave valuables lying about
Don't plug in heaters (you could blow a circuit breaker)
Keep your pass with you
And remember: theater, not drama.
Please
read all the information carefully and save and/or print it for further
reference.
Please remember to contact the folks referenced in each notice, rather
than hitting "reply".
Posters,
Flyer, and Doorhangers Oh, My!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thank you
everyone who has been and will be putting out our lovely 2009 printed
material. 80,000 flyers, 16,000 doorhangers
& 3,000 posters have gone out over the past 3 weeks. Thank
you!!!
If you have
posters you have not, and may not use, please bring them back to the
breezeway
table for others to place. We are now
officially out of posters. We still have
20,000 flyers so please continue to grab these this weekend!

Ticket
Takers Needed!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We are still
in need of ticket takers at the front gate. This is a crucial position
for many
reasons:
1) We ensure
that the customers have the correct ticket to get in
2) We
endeavor to get them through the gate as quickly and efficiently as
possible
3) We
provide answers to their questions (Bathrooms? Lost and Found?
Tickets for French Postcards? BART stop?)
3) We give
them a hearty and friendly welcome, which sets the tone for their day
at
Dickens
If you have
time during the day, especially in the afternoons, we could use your
help for a
couple of hours.
Ticket
takers will receive one comp ticket for every 2 hours worked. Please
see Steve
Johnson at the front gate at 10 am to sign up for the hours you can
work, or
you can e-mail him via penbrush@earthlink.net
. Previous workers please e-mail him to confirm you can work again this
year.
Thank you!
Green Room
Areas and Rain
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Remember
that if your area is next to one of the inside walls, there are leaks
when it
rains. It might be wise to pull you items back away from the wall a bit
and
cover things with plastic during the week.

Annie's
Cheap Hair Marches On!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
All new and
old hair orders are available for pickup, and can be retrieved at
Madame
Louise's (Lynne Coombs') hair braiding, across from the Adventurers'
Club. This
is courtesy of Susie Brody, who works there. Please don't come by while
the
fair is open, though, since this can interfere with Madame Louise's
business.
Susie will be there an hour or two before opening, so that's when to
visit--
and anyway, you want to get that hairpiece on your head early, right?
You can
also come by after closing, since Susie will still be there for a
little while
each day, bless her accommodating li'l heart.
Contact Annie Lore at ImminentIdea@aol.com
with any questions.
London Swine Flu
Mistletoe Etiquette from the Associated Press
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Christmas
kissing: On the cheek to avoid swine flu
LONDON (AP)
- Britain's authority on etiquette says it's more hygienic to exchange
kisses
on the cheek than to shake hands - so the swine flu pandemic should not
make
people afraid of kissing under the mistletoe this holiday season.
But
Debrett's warns people to observe proper etiquette by kissing others on
the
cheek instead of the lips and to avoid touching the person being kissed
except
on the shoulder or the upper arms.
Debrett's
etiquette adviser Jo Bryant warns people who are not feeling well to
avoid
parties altogether.
She
also urges those who have been drinking a lot to steer away from the
mistletoe
- because their "social skills will be impaired." She did not
elaborate on the swine flu implications of that.
