Thank you to the Next Generation at
Sunset Ridge
Elementary
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(from the Fezziwiggers)
Sunset Ridge Elementary was kind enough to welcome us back for a third
year.
It's a lovely space and we do our very best to keep it that way. But as
lovely
as it is, Sunset Ridge is not a wealthy school in a wealthy
neighborhood. It's
a Title 1 school, meaning that a high percentage of students come from
low-income families.
The last two years, we have given a little back to the school via
DonorsChoose.org,
an online charity where the teachers can put in proposals for specific
classes
and teaching curriculum.
Once again, Fezziwig's challenges us all to help out the
next generation. There are 10 proposals seeking funding at Sunset
Ridge;
in particular, there is a project to buy a new laminating machine to be
able to
preserve the children's work at the end of each year. Historical
preservation should start early.
Please join in helping the school that helps us
out.
Inspector
Pearce Mystery Adventure Tour is Now Casting
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
About The Mystery Tour:
The Mystery Tour is 3 part interactive show in which guests are led
throughout
the fair by a police inspector and engaged to participate in solving a
crime
mystery. In each of the three parts, guests are led to certain
locations where
they discover clues, encounter characters and observe staged events
taking
place. The mystery builds over the course of the three chapters, which
are
approximately 20 minutes long and are performed once each day. To
describe this
attraction in Dicken's Fair Terms, it is like a series of elaborate
gigs,
strung together by a plot, and played out for an audience that
literally
follows and interacts with the scenes.
If you are interested in playing a character, contact the
writer/director/tour
leader, Maimone Attia (Inspector Pearce) at (510) 978-6450 or email maimoneattia@gmail.com.
Below are the characters I'm casting for:
Daniel Good: Low-class, hard-edged, cockney speaking villain, 20-30
years old.
Lord Trenchard: Sinister, corrupt nobleman with diabolical schemes.
40-60 years
old
Annie: Good-hearted prostitute who fell from middle class into the
gutter. The
inspector's former girlfriend. 20s-40s.

Costumes:
Industrial Piercings & Glasses
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(from Liz Martin)
One of the challenges of Dickens Fair is accumulating all the various
costume
pieces that go into creating the perfect Victorian character or
adapting those
things that we have/need as modern parts of our lives.
Laura Rubin sent me these links for industrial piercings and for
glasses.
"Nobody has any excuse for leaving their facial piercings in anymore:
http://www.maelstromstudiolab.com/cat--Retainers--retainers.html
They've got everything from nose-screw retainers to industrial barbell
retainers.
Cheap glasses: http://zennioptical.com/
They've got them starting at $8 +S&H, so here are a few wireframes
from
that category that I thought looked period-ish. Ignore the color of the
big
image and look for the swatches at the bottom.
http://zennioptical.com/cart/product.php?productid=79&cat=20&page=1
http://zennioptical.com/cart/product.php?productid=88&cat=20&page=1
They've got a bunch of higher-priced stuff that's undoubtedly nicer,
but once
you know your prescription you could totally buy a pair for every
outfit. :)"
Annies' Cheap Hair Marches On!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(from Annie Lore)
Sounds like things were a bit crazy first weekend (big surprise), but
I'm
getting the pieces ordered and Pam & Emi Riby will be there
Saturday to man
(or rather woman) the table. I'll be there in person on Sunday to
further
distribute and to assist with new orders and purchases. And yes, I'll
have the
Wig America catalogue with me. If you'd like a copy of my wig menu I
can email
it to you as a Word document. You can always email me at ImminentIdea@aol.com
and I do take PayPal, so don't despair if you
weren't able to line up the hair you need first weekend; help is at
hand! The
hand just happens to be on the other side of the Atlantic at the moment.

Dollface
Curls from Angela
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(from Angela Neufeld)
Are you bored with the same old Dickens hairstyle? Do you want an easy
way to
look instantly younger and flirtatious? Dollface curls are for you!
My name is Angela and you may have seen me in years past working in the
Haberdashery, the Primrose Parlour (Jennifer's new hat shop) or
just out
and about. I'm the blonde that has the cute spiral curls at her temples
that
are often mistaken for my own hair. (Oh yeah, her!)
I'm now making Dollface Curls to sell during pre-fair and in the
Primrose
Parlour during Dickens. There are 10 colors to choose from - the same
colors as
some of Annie Lore's ringlet wigs (24B, 24/14, 27C, 27, 27A, 10, 8, 6,
6/30,
and 33). They're fastened to simple snap clips and have black satin
bows.
Custom ribbon and hair colors are available if you provide the ribbon
&/or
wig (preferably Annie's "Elka" style). The price is $35 per pair and
they last for years (if kept away from babies and pets...)! I will be
at
Pacifica workshops this Saturday (Sunday isn't confirmed). For
any
questions please leave your name and phone number for me at Lynn's
booth or
email me at aclothescall@yahoo.com.
Temperance
"Tea-Shirts" Available!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(from Harry Steeper)
Temperance is offering our "GIN IS SIN" shirts to the Fair
community. While we of course hope that you would endorse the cause, we
would
like to make cash even more! So there will be two options: "GIN IS
SIN" for the true of heart, and "GIN IS SIN!" for the wicked. We will
be taking orders beginning this upcoming weekend. Orders placed one
weekend
will be delivered the following weekend. There will be a print mockup
of the
evil twin shirt available, as our artist will be designing it this
week. We are
requesting a $20 donation.
See Mr. Byrd to place your order. (He will be wearing one of the shirts
this
weekend at lunchtime in the courtyard or you can email him at haroldfitz@hotmail.com
)

From Martin: "Dickens England", CD's,
Gigs and a Gym?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(from Martin Harris)
Tony White the landlord of Dickens favourite Pickwickian Pub Ye Olde
Leather
Bottle, (where I give my last reading of The Carol on Christmas Eve to
a candle
lit dinner,) has presented me as a personal thank you, with an extended
DVD
copy of "Dickens England" with Derek Jacobi taking a journey through
Dickens entire career. Obviously it
features the Pub. If someone can convert
it to or show it in, the US format, maybe we could arrange a viewing of
this
very special insight into Dickens personal life? It's about
an hour and half long.
I'll have
CD copies of my dramatic reading of A Christmas Carol for sale at Fair,
$20 and
I'm still looking for help with getting some more gigs for this reading.
Also, may I ask if anyone in the east bay area is a member of a full
gym that I
might be able to use while staying in Berkeley?
Thanks and
I'll see you soon,
Martin
Home for House Bunnies?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(from Amy Adams
Liebert)
Two sweet tempered pampered house bunnies
looking for a good home. Indoor or outdoor may work, the important
thing is
that they are well cared for and can stay together. These are sweet
tempered
animals,and do well with low key people.
They would probably not do well with very small rambunctious kids. They
were
previously the well loved companions of a retired gentleman who has
passed on.
If interested please email Amy ataaliebert@gmail.com.

Greetings all. In the very recent past, I have had the

The finished film should be released in the Fall of 2010.
