Dickens Christmas Fair 2007 November Missive #1A - Timegames

(sent November 9th, 2007)

Information hot off the presses from Phyllis Patterson regarding Timegames.

Please remember to contact Phyllis about all things Timegames rather than replying to me.

“SOME FUN!” AN INVITATION AND AN OFFER

Some Fun: Most assuredly, the very best way to exercise and polish your new Victorian language skills and develop your character without fear is to help encourage our visitors to Dickensian London to Play Timegames!

How to do it: You may choose to help out at the Timegames table near the Green Man Inn, or you can meet new Timeplayers in the streets. Spend only two or three hours a day (your choice of times) and change your schedule as needed with only 24 hours’ notice.

What happens: You will be offering visitors a sort of self-guided Treasure Hunt through the fair, with wondrous whimsical prizes for those who finish the game. The contest is open to all ages. You will of course be in character and addressing the players as fellow 19th-century persons. We can even provide you with a brief script of appropriate lines to recite with each encounter so that you can concentrate on your accent and character instead of your vocabulary.

Highly recommended for all gregarious souls with somewhat open schedules!

How to start: Show your enthusiastic holiday spirit by emailing Phyllis@timegames.org, or talk to her at the Timegames table near Registration. There will be sweets and biscuits and eternal renown for all who find this to be a ‘loverly’ escapade.

With all sorts of regards and good wishes!
Phyllis Patterson
Timegames Chief Instigator
