East Bay and
Far East Bay Dickens Promo Volunteers Needed.
With the Bart promotion entering its second year, (it was a palpable
hit!) we
want to increase our exposure 'in the street'. Please email kevin@dickensfair.com
for details if
you would like to help create lists of great places to poster and
flyer. Some
paid positions for poster/flyer distribution once lists are created...

Extra! HUGE New SF Chronicle Ads Planned
The decline of print is creating a buyers market for the Fair. We
have increased our column inches by 70%
for 2009 with almost the same cash.

least: We have a whole new look for the posters, flyers and ads this
year. Rich and theatrical...and very Victorian! This design
will also
encompass the
website! See the new logo above for a
taste!

| One Christmas
Carol Character, One Understudy Needed

The character of Martha
Cratchitt is needed for the cast of "A Christmas Carol" this
year.
We are also looking for an understudy for the role of Jacob Marley.

| The Mikado Needs a Tenor
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We
got some really great singers for our adaptation of Gilbert &
Sullivans' "The
Mikado" but still need another tenor for the chorus. This great show
will be
performed once a day at the Victoria & Albert Music Hall Theatre.
Singer
would need to be able to sing in a classical or Broadway style, hold
pitch in a
multi-part chorus and move on stage. Dance experience not a
prerequisite.

Auditions to join our fabulous high-kicking ladies on Mad Sal's stage
at the
Great Dickens Christmas Fair are coming up!
Have you always wanted to be a Cancan dancer? Or at least since you
started
reading this missive? Come
audition for us!
What Le
Cancan Bijou needs from you:
*Available
Wednesdays 7-10 pm for the next 6 weeks, and weekends
November-Christmas.
*Can do the splits (or very close) and kick to shoulder height.
*18+ only. Absolutely no exceptions.
*Prior dance experience
*Available for occasional gigs throughout the year
*Must provide own costume according to our strict guidelines, including
professional Capezio cancan boots.
Audition
date is Wednesday, October 7th, 7-10pm, in El Cerrito.

Blessed Order of Christmas Keepers"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As the song says, We need a
little Christmas - right this very minute!
The Blessed Order of Christmas Keepers has been developed to help
infuse
every aspect of the Fair with the glorious and irresistible jollity of
Mr
Dickens Christmas Sprit.
Christmas Keepers will add focus
and dimension to the parades and pageants, thereby encouraging greater
audience
enjoyment (and understanding of what they are seeing). They will
also help with the ticket taking at
the front gate and will move about the fair creating Christmas
merriment by
carrying packages, decorating certain pre-set areas, and generally
being
obsessively jolly!
This group can be a terrific
entry point for people who are new to Dickens Fair, and who want to get
a feel
for the kind of magic we are creating. It's also a home for
performers who want to participate in
the Father Christmas and Toy Parades.
The Christmas Keepers is led
by Robyn Agpalo, and will be
meeting on the first day of workshops at a location to be announced at
the
morning meeting. (which is at 10:00AM on
November 7th) If you need to confer with Robyn before that, you can
