RBP Neighborhood Missive Update
(sent September 2nd, 2008)

This has just been a tough year for our extended family, as this missive will attest. With that in mind, I would like to request happy news for the next neighborhood missive. If you have recently gotten married, had a child, or graduated, please drop me a simple one-sentence statement that I can include in the next neighborhood missive. Please only do this for yourself, your spouse or immediate family member so that I don't get deluged and am sure that posting the news is approved by the actual people involved. Something like this:
Baby Jones was born to Mr. & Mrs. Jones in Petaluma on June 17th.

In other news, the Dickens Fair participant information page at http://dickensfair.com/performerinfo.htm has been recently been updated and should prove helpful for new folks asking questions about how to participate.

Thanks,

Cat

In This Missive:
Sully is Ill
Samara Lefson  Needs Your Good Thoughts
First Leg of the Brian Dall'Armi Memorial Tour

Sully is Ill
I received this from Sharon Sullivan yesterday upon returning from a couple of days away:

"My father Gordon Sullivan (Sully) is terminally ill. Last weekend I got word that it is a matter of days to weeks. He is not up to visitors, but cards and prayers would be welcome. His lady Louisa is holding up fairly well, but kind thoughts for her would also be appreciated.
Cards can be mailed to:

Gordon Sullivan
17980 N. Hwy 101
Wilits, CA 94510"

I am also told that his birthday is tomorrow, September 3rd. Sully has been part of our fair(e) family for many years, demonstrating his Roaring Dragon wooden printing press at both Renaissance and Dickens era events around the state. http://home.earthlink.net/~doncox/rdp/rdp.html

Samara Lefson  Needs Your Good Thoughts
This in from Carol Goodman - Beverage & Catering Coordinator:

If you've ever been to an ale stand at The Heart of the Forest Renaissance Fair or Dickens Christmas Fair (um, is there anyone who hasn't?),  then you've seen what kind of ale servers we have.  They are loud, funny, sexy, in-your-face and full of more energy than you can possibly imagine.

With that picture in mind, I'd like to ask all of you to send love, support and prayers to one of our servers who is going through cancer treatment for chondrosarcoma in their spine.  She is living in temporary quarters in Boston with her husband and 4 year old daughter while she receives treatment and it looks like they may be there through the holidays.

Samara has been in a great deal of pain for several months now as they have tested, researched and ultimately decided what form of treatment is best for her.  All the while, she's done her best to keep up with her family and pets.

She loves working ale more than almost any other server I know.  Those of you who know her (and if Samara is there - can her sister Parris be far behind...),  know what a true joy she is to be around. She is dangling the carrot of hope that she will have a chance to join the Beverage Department again as one of her motivators through this treatment.

Please join with me in sending her whatever thoughts and energy you can to help her through this battle and come back to us, her 'other' family.

Thank you.

First Leg of the Brian Dall'Armi Memorial Tour
This is the official invitation to the first leg of the Brian Dall'Armi Memorial Tour.

Saturday, September 13th, 6:30-10pm (Second Weekend)
The Amethyst Arbor Stage, NorCal Ren Faire (Casa)

This will be a chance to share stories, remembrances, music and dance. If you like, please bring an easy, potluck dish to share.

If you -- or someone you know who should be there -- are not already on a Gate List, Nell has been given a special list just for the Memorial. Please respond to nwblackwell@yahoo.com by midnight of Wednesday the 10th if you'd like to be included on this list. People are welcome to show up Friday or Saturday at the Pass Gate; you will have to pay $10 for after hours/camping for the weekend -- even if you aren't planning to stay past the memorial.

Please advise friends who have no Renaissance costumes, to at least come festively and/or aesthetically attired.

To sign up for the missives, please email missives@redbarnproductions.org, and request to be added to the missive list.
