I would be remiss if I didn't include something about the
devastation from the 7.0 magnitude earthquake in Haiti. If you would

With warm memories of a fabulous 10th season at the Cow
Palace, the Patterson family and the whole team at Red Barn Productions
would
like to wish you a happy, healthy and creative new year.
Thank you for everything you do to make the
Great Dickens Christmas Fair truly great.
We look forward to more refinements in the design, layout, and
theatrical excellence of the show in 2010.
Look for cool new things on the all-new dickensfair.com in the coming
months. By next season, customers (including participant family
members) will
be able to print out their online tickets and bring them directly to
the gate,
thus avoiding the need to queue up at Will Call.
MARKETING. The BART shuttle was wildly successful once
again, with full busses on practically every run. Promotions,
publicity and advertising really
'clicked' this year with color ads and feature articles in the Chron
and other
pubs, successful co-promo events like the Disney and Young Victoria
openings,
online buzz via Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and dozens and dozens of
positive
reviews in the blogosphere. See
Adrienne's review for more details. Many
thanks once again to all those who helped make us look good out there.
A word about the quality of the ENTERTAINMENT is certainly in
order. Cat Taylor, Robert Young and all the show and
group directors are to be commended for their commitment to the depth
and quality of the entertainment at the
Fair. There is a pervasive feeling of
excitement and theatrical magic in the air on each and every day of the
show. This does not happen by chance!
Bravo, one and all!
The VENDOR communities contribution to the look, feel and quality of
the Fair
is not to be overlooked. Over 90% of the
crafts sold at the Fair are not only made by hand, but are presented by
the
artists themselves. The streets of
London are lined with beautiful shops filled with exquisite
art. This is a fact we can all be very proud of.
The BUILD and take-down crews did a fantastic job once again this
year. Creating Victorian London inside cow barns is
a huge task and the carpenters, designers, costumers, electricians,
painters,
loaders, plumbers and beverage flowmeisters made it look
easy. The show is now packed safely away in the
warehouse on Mare Island and in 2 company 48' vans stored at the Cow
Palace. It takes roughly 19 days to
build, and 12 days to take it down, pack it up, and sweep it
clean. Amazing!
Don't forget...the COW PALACE is out of harms' way largely because of
the
continued growth and positive public image of the Dickens Christmas
Fair and
the venue's overall return to financial viability. The best
way to insure the Cow Palace stays
saved is to support the shows that come there.
Every time you notice a new concert, show or event at the Cow Palace,
help spread the word...and buy a ticket.
THANK YOU!!
Kevin & Leslie

do that.
